Child Support
Many people do not know that the child support guidelines changed in 2013. Higher income earners now pay less of an overall percentage of child support. The result may now mean that obligors (people who pay child support) may now end up paying less child support for the same number of children. There are additional means to review child support such as if there is a substantial change in circumstances (substantial increase or decrease in either party’s income, job loss, re-employment, change in number of children), or every three years. If you are curious about whether this change may apply to you, if you want to try to mediate child support with your former partner or spouse, or if it is a good time to review child support, contact us.
